I was in perfect health, ... or so I thought. I had a dream career with Kraft Foods in Sales Management, lived with my husband in a log home in Ariel Wa, on acreage and was 31 years old. My dad and his wife came to visit and he taught me how to make homemade soap. Well, I didn't start off small. I began Sunnybrook Soap Co as a hobby and started off with about 2000 bars of goatmilk soap. It was about 3 months after diving into making soap, that I started having problems with memory. I couldn't remember where I lived and how to get home or the trip I took to San Francisco for business, and I realized I had a problem when someone asked me where I got married. I couldn't remember which state or even the wedding. It happened so fast along with the growing feeling of fatigue till I just couldn't get out of bed. Needless to say I went on disability... for 3 long years. I lost the career with Kraft, my log home, my car and we went to live in a 1970 single wide trailer (free rent) with no heat, holes in the floor so you could look down and see dirt (we patched them up), light bulbs hung from the 7 ft ceiling on wires and we cut 3 inches off the canopy bed to make it fit. It was the only piece of furniture I took with me from the sale of our house. It was a gutted trailer with no kitchen. I mean, no cabinets, appliances, counter or sink. We washed our dishes in the tub we took a bath in and the nobs to turn the water on were wrenches. There was no steps into the trailer and no grass on that hillside we lived on. One night we came home to the roof being blown completely off the trailer and laying upside down in the yard. The owner had used only 12 nails to keep it down. . We lived in that place for a year to save the money along with the sale of the house so I could get Hyperbaric Medicine which I heard would heal the brain. I of course like most others desperate to get well, used up our great credit using 5 different credit cards to see the best doctors and so I bounced around to one doctor after another finally ending up at Dr Ken Stoller in Sante Fe, NM and then in the above pictured hyperbaric chamber in Canada and then Dr Dietricht Klinghardt, MD's office for two years. Of the brilliant doctors I saw, none asked what I had been doing or exposed to that brought me to this point where you could take your hand and run in in front of my face and no response. They depended on their tests. I felt like years later they were treating the tests and not the patient. Although I have the highest respect and esteem for them, they didn't lead me to being well because they didn't find the cause of my illness. Each one of those brilliant doctors did things that really helped me and I thank them tremendously for their care, but they missed the most important part. None of them addressed the gut with me. All went for the "brain infection" and who could blame them. It was so glaring. I had no constipation, no gas and bloating, no "gut issues" to report. It all seemed neurological. At that time, you could ask me, "Rebecca, where do you want to go for lunch?" and I would respond, "Rebecca where do you want to go to lunch" but kinda monotone. I looked ok, but it was like the lights were on but no one was home... It was not until many years later after becoming a colon hydrotherapist and growing in my knowledge of detox and the gut brain combination that I pieced it all together. Back then who knew? Who was warning anyone of the dangers of sniffing synthetic fragrances that I bought in 32 oz bottles from a soap supplier and sniffed to make a 20 scent line of soap? None of the bottles came with warning labels like glue does. Everyone knew not to sniff glue, but this was for making homemade soap so "it had to be ok". I didn't give it any thought. I used a serious mask for working with the lye, just not the concentrated fragrances. And you just didn't make the connection. No one did. But I tell you, what I was sniffing was far more harmful than if I had sniffed glue and I paid quite a price for it. To make matters worse, it wasn't just the sniffing directly from the bottle that made me sick, bottle after bottle until I picked the right scents to make a line out of. It was also the off gassing of 2000 bars of soap in the house that I worked all day in that kept me sick. To this day I don't remember my wedding, or vacations, or many many things from prior to about age 34. But, I can now remember the photos of them really well and I thank God for the brain healing. Yes, God is the healer and the brain heals! You are not stuck with a damaged brain. There is much you can do.
What got me well was the knowledge about the "Gut Biome". Back then it was not called "Gut BIome". No one was talking about the gut lining, about GALT or about probiotics. The great physicians from the early 1900's referred to it simply as the terrain. I stumbled on Kellogg's book, The Itinerary of a Breakfast and Dr Bernard Jensen's book, Tissue Cleansing through Bowel Management and Jordan Rubins book, Patient, Heal Thyself. Those three books sent me in the right direction. It was the later that made the biggest difference. Specifically, the understanding of probiotics and the gut which made the biggest difference. I had done everything else, from amalgam removal with chelation, I was plant based, did colonics, sauna, thousands of dollars of "the best supplements tested for my body", tons of IV protocols including colloidal silver hydrogen peroxide, and the PK protocol for 18 months, and the underwent the incredible Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments (40 sessions). I had no surgeries, no implants, and no history of exposures that would lead you to think chemical toxicity. Very few doctors then were connecting chemical toxicity with opening the door for microbes to get into the brain. But the understanding of the gut brain connection and healing the gut with a very specific form of probiotic was what turned my health around. Now I don't think it would have worked if I had not done some of the other things listed above, because healing is about lifestyle and not a magic potion pill or lotion, but the turning point was very definite with detox and focusing not on killing microbes, bio-film, and all the current Lyme Slang, but the sole focus became healing the terrain and gut restoration beginning with detox and true nourishment of the whole body. It was a mental shift and approach change from focusing on killing bugs to healing the terrain or as they now promote as if they discovered it, the Gut Biome. I have ENORMOUS respect and appreciation to Dr Bernard Jensen, Dr Max Gerson, and all the incredible pioneering doctors who declared the absolute necessity of cleansing the colon against the established medical doctors and AMA of their day. Sadly, the medical establishment is entering into the naturopathic realm as if they were the ones to always promote it. The allopathic approach has crept into the Naturopathic Schools and now it is hard now to tell the difference between an allopathic physician and a naturopathic physician.
Now more than ever, you need a Holistic Health Coach who only shares wellness and not blends it with "the pill for every ill" paradigm. True Health is in YOUR hands! It's a lifestyle not a protocol.
So why did I enter the field of Detox, Cleansing and Colonics, and not into the field of Hyperbaric 15 years ago? Well back then the knowledge around Hyperbaric was not like it is now. The chamber I went into was a high pressure chamber and there was no place in that field if you were not an MD or worked under one. And there was not the awareness and case studies like today with the Mild Hyperbaric Chambers that don't require MD status to work with. Basically, to answer the original question of Why Cleansing? I was led into the field Colon Hydrotherapy by God and through a series of unfortunate events. Although I had colonics in Portland, I was not impressed with the procedure, the care levels or the results I got from that place. And I figured they were all like that. I was trying to get into Nursing School and figured I would throw out 80% of what I learned but it would give me a license so I could help people. I have a Florence Nightengale syndrome and after overcoming an illness that most don't, I wanted to make a difference in the world, one persona at a time. So I said yes to helping a 42 year old man who was dying of a stomach tumer and had 10 kids from 9 months old to 18 years old and this man did not speak english. I spent 26 days with their family helping in what little I knew with juicing, enemas and natural ways. He could not move his bowels, and I could not find a colon therapist to take him to. It was a simple as that. There was a need and since I could not get into nursing school for the 3 year wait at that time, the door opened to help people through colonics. God provided all the money, a place to do the colonics in, and most important, the best training ever. I had no idea when I signed up to train under, that I would get the absolute best training in the field. From Chuck Ankeney for ozone and Dr Russel Kolbo ND for my certifications up through Instructor. I also trained with Maria Elaina St John who had a colonic practice primarily with very sick people. Instead of learning colonics on other students like most colonic training teaches upon, I learned on people with cancer, AIDS, MS, Parkinsons and other diseases. 15 years later, 20,000 sessions later, here I am, putting all that into a health coaching and healing retreat to help people in a deeper and more continuous approach.
