![]() For Those Who Want To Enjoy A SUMMER COOKOUT! Summer is almost here and what comes to mind? Grilling out with friends! What to do if you are plant based? Well below is my FAVORITE plant based burger that you can get at Whole Foods. Having spent 43 years of my life a serious carnivore and for 3 years, I'm ashamed to say, I raised sheep organically for meat!, I will tell you these are the CLOSEST plant based burgers on earth! They look and grill and taste like burgers, They SIZZLE and have juice that runs out of them while grilling. So if grilling the vegetable skewers with pineapple, peppers, mushrooms, onions and cherry tomatoes don't get you excited, well The Beyond Burger will. Now what to do about the bun? Well that is the problem. I believe the biggest problem with commercial bread, is not the gluten though that surely gets a lot of tummies in turmoil. The big issues are the yeast and the other chemicals they slip in. Did you know commercial bread has Asian hair amino acids in it? Really does. So not many folks can make their own homemade bread, but if you do, I suggest you grind your own Einkorn flour and instead of yeast, use a cultured sourdough. If I can do it, anyone can. This bread is very healthy for most folks. And then there is the condiments. All that sugar and preservatives. Well, let's say you bring the organic ketchup and mustard. What do you do for Mayo? Well, if you can do a little soy and canola oil (which is of course not that good either), I would suggest Vegenaise and they carry that Fred Meyers and most grocery stores. Now What About Going To A BBQ
On A CLEANSE? Are you in the middle of a 14 day cleanse / detox and have been doing great all week. Haven't cheated once! And, now you got to go to the company picnic and all those burgers on the grill are making you really want one? Besides making the most beautiful salad and fruit bowl, what do you do? Well, when you take your salad or fruit bowl, make sure you put it in something really pretty so its very appealing. We're not talking plastic tupperware. If you can, if you got it, put it in a really stylish dish and it will be so appealing people will want it and complement you on it. One of the cutest dishes is free. Well some what free. You cut the pineapple in half lengthwise. Scoop out the delicious pineapple and use it as a bowl for the fruit. It's so eye catching, that people will tell you great idea. When they do, that is your opportunity to say how much you love eating it. Don't tell people you are cleansing and certainly don't share how good pineapple is for digestion or parasites. Because the second tactic for enjoying a BBQ, and the most the important tactic, It's all how you psychologically handle it! Dr Doug LIsle of True North Health Center in California has an outstanding video called "The Pleasure Trap" and you can get it on Amazon. The third lecture is titled: "How to get along without going along! Oh, he gives the best advice that is sure to get you through those tough situations where people are pressuring you to eat their food and make you feel bad for eating yours. No time between today and tomorrow's BBQ to get it? Just say to anyone questioning you about your food choice that "it seems to be working for me and I can always go back if it doesnt' The "seems" approach is classic psychology and works most of the time. And then what do you do about YOUR desire to eat the burgers sizzling on the grill? You know that smell right? Even The Beyond Burger is not that healthy and certainly not in your CLEANSE. That bun sure isn't. So what then? Don't go to the bbq hungry. Make sure you have eaten a little something before going so you are not super hungry when you are there. And the fourth tactic is to write down your WHY! Why did you want to cleanse? What did you want to change or achieve? Who is pulling for you and going to ask you how it's going? Whatever that WHY is, it is far more important than any food at a BBQ and going to be WAY MORE FUN to achieve! You can do it! "In reading the lives of great men, I found that the first victory they won was over themselves... self-discipline with all of them came first". (Harry S Truman)
